Amino Acids – Protein Really, How Much?


The average adult needs about 0.8 grams of protein per kilogram or 2.20462 per pound of bodyweight a day, which comes out to roughly 56 grams of protein a day for men and 46 for women, according to the Institutes of Medicine.

Example: 172 (bodyweight) / 2.50462 (factor) = 78 grams of protein.
